Karachi (April 2): Governor Sindh Grants Two Plots to Families Affected by Malir Halt Incident

Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori stated that he will never let the tragic Zainab incident be forgotten. "This city is not abandoned. We will stand with the victims’ families until justice is served in the Zainab case," he emphasized during a meeting with the affected families in Shah Faisal Colony.

He assured the families of his full support and cooperation, which they acknowledged with appreciation. As a gesture of solidarity, Governor Tessori granted two 80-square-yard plots to the grieving families. He noted that while financial aid can never replace the lives lost, this is a step to support those left behind.

Speaking to the media afterward, the Governor said he had visited the area before Eid and is observing the festival with simplicity due to the tragic event. He mentioned that he also discussed the Zainab case during his Eid meeting with the Inspector General (IG) and Additional IG of Sindh Police. "Zainab wanted to name her son Ismail," he said emotionally, adding that every effort is being made to ensure such incidents never happen again.

He brought along the owners of Smart City as a sign of solidarity and reaffirmed his commitment to securing justice for the victims. “Although the 18th Amendment has limited my executive authority, I will continue to raise my voice,” he asserted. “I will speak out against such incidents so that they are not repeated.”

Governor Tessori expressed deep regret and offered condolences to the mourning family. "This heartbreaking tragedy is unparalleled anywhere in the world. May Allah grant patience to the affected families. Ameen."

He further announced that the families of all those crushed under dumpers and tankers in the city will be allotted plots. “Karachi is a city of dignified people. It has witnessed immense bloodshed, and we will not let its people fall victim to traffic terrorism.”

Responding to a question, Governor Sindh said he wants to give the administration an opportunity to address the matter. He added that all political parties have been invited to an All Parties Conference (APC), where a joint strategy will be devised.

In response to another question, he confirmed that he has already written to the President about these incidents and intends to write to the Prime Minister as well.
